Systems Update
Hector Norris pump station
The Hector Norris pump station had experienced technical challenges on Tuesday, which Johannesburg Water’s technical team and service provider worked together to resolve.
Repairs on the generator were completed and pumping resumed at 12pm. However, please note it will take several hours for water supply to be restored, while high-lying areas will still experience poor pressure later this afternoon.
Affected areas: Johannesburg CBD, Newtown, Selby, Braamfontein, and parts of Parktown.
Further details will be provided once they become available.
Randpark Ridge reservoir
The reservoir is currently at critically low levels due to poor incoming supply. Johannesburg Water technical teams are investigating the matter. In the meantime, the Entity will provide alternative water supply for the affected areas.
Further details will be provided as soon as they become available.

Customers are requested to repair leaks on their properties as these also contribute to the high demand on Johannesburg Water systems. Residents are requested to observe level-1 water restrictions which are implemented from 1 September to 31 March. These restrictions prohibit the use of hosepipes to water gardens, wash cars, clean driveways, as well as fill up swimming pools and water features between 06:00 and 18:00. Instead, the use of greywater is encouraged.
