Systems Update
Soweto System
– Meadowlands reservoir is under pressure. Areas in the supply zone may experience poor pressure to no water.
– The Aeroton and Diepkloof reservoirs are currently under strain due to repairs that are underway on a burst pipe. Areas in the supply zone are currently experiencing poor pressure to no water.
Johannesburg Central System
Overall, the Commando System is critically low.
– The Crosby as well as Hursthill 1 and 2 reservoirs are under strain. High-lying areas may experience poor pressure to no water. Hursthill 1 is reconfigured to boost capacity, while Hursthill 2 will be closed overnight. Alternative water supply in the form of roaming tankers will be available.
Progress on sites that were affected by Eskom Power failure affecting Rand Water Zwartkopjes Pump Station:
– Forest Hill direct and tower zone, the system improved overnight, Johannesburg Water continues to monitor the system.
– Yeoville pumpstation zone, pumping has resumed, however system is still recovering, poor pressure to no water to be expected in the supply zone.
– Parktown and Berea reservoir have improved and supplying normally.
Midrand System
The overall Midrand System is supplying normally. However, the President Park reservoir is currently under strain due to high demand.
Randburg and Roodepoort System
The system is stable and supplying normally.
Sandton System
The system is stable and supplying normally.
Deep South Systems
Orange farm, Ennerdale and Lawley systems are critical low and supply is affected due to high demand and illegal connections. Orange Farm and Lawley reservoirs will be closed overnight to build capacity.
Lenasia, Cosmos systems are stable and supplying normally.
