City Power transformer substation fire to impact Johannesburg Water’s systems
City Power’s transformer substation in Brixton is on fire. The fire department is on site and operators are enroute. It’s still unclear at this stage what the cause of the fire and the extent of the damage is.
As a result of the fire, pumping from Johannesburg Water’s Brixton reservoir to the Brixton tower will be affected. This will affect water supply to the Brixton reservoir and tower zones.
A pumping unit is being organised for the Helen Joseph Hospital.
