Eskom power supply issue impacting Grand Central reservoir and tower

There is a water outage at Grand Central, Midrand that was caused by an electrical fault on the supply to the Grand Central Pump Station. The electrical fault, which occurred on Wednesday afternoon, has been reported to Eskom for urgent attention.

As a result, the water level at Grand Central Reservoir is critically low, which is resulting in no pumping to the tower. Customers in the reservoir and tower zone will be affected by no water supply.

As soon as the fault is repaired, Johannesburg Water will be able to pump from the Grand Central Reservoir to the tower.

Roaming water tankers were deployed from around 15:30 until around 20:00 to strategic areas, including the Boulders Shopping Centre, Grand Central Airport, Macdonald’s Halfway House, as well as Kikuyi and Munyaka in Waterfall.

Roaming water tankers will continue to be deployed to affected areas. Further updates will be provided.
