Commando System: Brixton reservoir outlet closed
Johannesburg Water is on site investigating the poor supply pressure currently being experienced by residents in parts of the Commando System.
As a result, reservoirs in the Commando System (comprising Brixton, Crosby, and Hursthill 1 and 2) have low water levels.
As an intervention and to try to build capacity, the Brixton reservoir outlet was closed from 18:00 on Tuesday, 16 April and will remain closed until the reservoir reaches an acceptable level. The Entity’s technical teams estimate that the Brixton reservoir outlet may be partially opened at 17:00 today, after which the system will be closely monitored. Customers supplied by the Brixton tower zone are not affected at this stage.
In the meantime, Johannesburg Water is providing alternative water supply through roaming water tankers. There is currently no estimated time for full recovery.
