Systems Update
Rand Water Maintenance: Palmiet Pump Station update
The Palmiet Pump Station has been operating at full capacity (100%) since the completion of the first phase of the maintenance project (part 1 of 3) on 1 July 2024. Phase two of the maintenance is scheduled to take place from 15 – 17 July 2024 and will last for 50 hours. Pumping pressure will be reduced to 68%.
Most systems supplied from the station have since improved or recovered, except the following:
South Hills Tower
Pumping resumed yesterday evening and the tower is supplying normally.
Alexander Park Reservoir
The reservoir made a slight improvement overnight and supplying fairly. The reservoir levels remain low due to supplying reservoir still on recovery. The reservoir levels are expected to gradually improve on daily basis while the supplying reservoir is also improving.
Sandton Systems
Sandton supply was closed overnight and opened this morning at 04:00.
Direct feeds have since recovered and supplying normal.
Bryanston reservoir and tower, both systems are stable and supplying normal.
Linbro Park, Marlboro and Morningside Reservoirs, levels have declined but all reservoirs are stable and supplying fairly.
Illovo Reservoir and Tower, reservoir levels are currently declining. Poor pressure is expected in the supply zone while the reservoir levels are low. The reservoir is expected to improve overnight. While the tower levels are normal and supplying fairly.
Johannesburg Water will continue to provide updates and monitor all systems.
