Systems Update
Phase two of Rand Water Palmiet Pump Station Maintenance has been completed and pumping at 100%
Most Johannesburg Water (JW) systems have declined but supplying fairly while some have depleted on the third day of maintenance programme. The bulk supplier, Rand Water has completed the maintenance work and pumping has resumed at full capacity (100%).
JW systems that are supplied from Palmiet Pump Station are expected to start improving, however, recovery will take a few days (3 – 5 days).
The following systems are affected;
South Hills Tower is currently empty due to low levels at the supplying reservoir. No water is expected in the supply zone.
Alexander Park Reservoir is empty due to poor supply from the reservoir. No water is expected in the supplying zone. The outlet will be closed overnight to build capacity.
Linksfield Reservoir is empty, and no water is expected in the supply zone.
Randjieslaagte Reservoir is critically low. Poor pressure is expected in certain parts, particularly high-lying areas.
The Sandton Reservoirs have declined/reduced but supplying fairly.
The Linbro and Marlboro direct feeds are supplying normally, however, intermittent supply is expected.
Most Midrand Reservoirs are declining but supplying normally.
The following Midrand systems are affected;
Rabie Ridge reservoir is critically low. A combination of poor pressure to no water is expected in both the reservoir and tower zones.

President Park reservoir is critically low. A combination of poor pressure to no water is expected in the supply zone.
Johannesburg Water is monitoring the decline of the systems supplied from Palmiet and will put necessary intervention as and when required.
Alternative water continues to be supplied to the areas affected.
