Improved overnight. Currently maintaining stability and supplying normally.
Commando System
• Brixton reservoir and tower: Both remained stable throughout the day and are supplying normally.
• Hursthill 1 reservoir: Currently low. Poor pressure is expected in the supply zone. The reservoir is reconfigured to boost the supply.
• Hursthill 2 reservoir: Maintained stability throughout the day, but level remains low. Poor pressure is expected in high-lying areas of the supply zone.
• Crosby reservoir: The reservoir levels are low. Poor pressure is expected in high- lying areas.
The following reservoirs will be throttled to 90% overnight to retain water and build capacity for Saturday:
• Brixton
• Hursthill 2
• Rabie Ridge
• Diepsloot
Customers supplied by the abovementioned reservoirs may experience poor pressure to no flow. Alternative water supply has been arranged for the affected areas.
Residents are requested to observe level-1 water restrictions which are implemented from 1 September to 31 March. These restrictions prohibit the use of hosepipes to water gardens, wash cars, clean driveways, as well as fill up swimming pools and water features between 06:00 and 18:00. Instead, the use of greywater is encouraged.
