Major burst pipe in Kaalfontein, Midrand
There is a major burst pipe on a DN500 water pipeline in Kaalfontein, Midrand. Teams are organising fittings and machinery for repairs. There is currently no estimated time for completion.
The burst affects Kaalfontein and parts of Ebony Park. Water tankers will be placed in the following areas in Kaalfontein:
1. Yarona Shopping Centre
2. Kaalfontein Boxer Superstores
3. Kaalfontein Corner Shopping Centre
Two more tankers will be roaming the area.

Work continues on major burst at River Crossing, Johannesburg North
The excavation still has a large volume of water as the network continues to drain. The team is inspecting valves in the area to ensure total isolation.
Once the damaged main has been exposed, relevant materials will be sourced for repairs. There is currently no estimated completion time at this stage.
Affected areas include parts of Johannesburg North, Cedar Lakes, Cedar Creek, Broadacres, Needwood, Kya Sands, Northriding, Bloubosrand, Chartwell, Msawawa Informal Settlement, Tirong and Farmall.
Alternate water supply is being provided to affected areas through mobile tankers. Further updates will be provided to customers.

Progress with repairs at River Crossing, Johannesburg North
Repairs are nearing completion as the team is balancing the repaired main within the worksite to prevent a further burst.
Valves will be operated systematically and in a phased approach to allow the network to restore gradually. Customers in higher lying areas may still experience low pressure or no water as the system recovers.
Affected areas include parts of: Johannesburg North, Cedar Lakes, Cedar Creek, Broadacres, Needwood, Kya Sands, Northriding, Bloubosrand, Chartwell, Msawawa Informal Settlement, Tirong and Farmall.
Alternative water supply is being provided to affected areas through mobile tankers. Further updates will be provided to customers.
Johannesburg Water apologises to customers for the inconvenience caused.

Emergency Shutdown of 600mm bulk main: major burst at river crossing, Johannesburg North
Water has been isolated and excavations have been partially completed. Excavations have been suspended this evening as the work site near the river is unsafe to continue working.
The team will commence with work in the morning to expose the damaged pipeline.
Relevant materials will be sourced for repairs. There is no estimated completion time at this stage.
Affected areas include parts of:
Johannesburg North, Cedar Lakes, Cedar Creek, Broadacres, Needwood, Kya Sands, Northriding, Bloubosrand, Chartwell, Msawawa Informal Settlement, Tirong and Farmall.

Rand Water’s Zwartkopjes technical challenges continue to affect Yeoville reservoir levels
Yeoville reservoir levels continue to drop due to Rand Water’s Zwartkopjes pump station, which supplies the Yeoville reservoir complex.
This comes after their pumps had technical challenges on Thursday, 25 May.
Currently, Yeoville reservoir 1 and 2 are almost empty, while reservoir 3 had 4.2 metres of water supply. At the moment, there is no water being pumped.
Johannesburg Water is in constant communication with Rand Water teams and further updates will be provided as soon as they become available.
Residents will experience low pressure to no water. Alternative water supply will be arranged for affected areas through mobile tankers.
