Systems Update
Phase two of Rand Water Palmiet Pump Station Maintenance
The maintenance has commenced today, 15 July and will be until Wednesday, 17 July 2024, during which pumping will be reduced to 68% for 50 hours.
During this period, systems will respond differently to the reduced pumping from the bulk supplier.
South Hills Tower is currently empty due to low levels at the supplying reservoir. No water is expected in the supply zone.
Alexander Park Reservoir
Critically low and the outlet will be closed overnight to build capacity.
Linksfield Reservoir
Currently low but supplying normally. Johannesburg Water is monitoring the decline of the reservoir capacity.
Randjieslaagte Reservoir is critically low. Poor pressure is expected in high-lying areas. Johannesburg Water is monitoring the decline of the reservoir capacity.
The Sandton reservoirs have declined/reduced but supplying normally. The Linbro and Marlboro direct feeds are supplying normally, however, intermittent supply is expected.
Midrand Reservoirs are declining and currently low.
Rabie Ridge Reservoir is empty due to no supply. No water is expected.
President Park Reservoir is low but supplying fairly. The reservoir is expected to decline due to no supply.
Johannesburg Water is monitoring the decline of the systems supplied from Palmiet and will put necessary intervention as and when required.
Alternative water supply has been arranged and will be placed at strategic points within the residential areas.
Phase three of the Palmiet maintenance is scheduled to begin on 29 to 30 July 2024.
