Systems Update
Yeoville Pump Station
Due to the load rotation currently taking place at City Power’s Bellevue substation, operations at Johannesburg Water’s Yeoville Pump Station have been sporadic.
The power utility continues with load rotation today, which means there is no consistent pumping throughout the day. The station will be operational according to the load rotation schedule. This has led to lower pressure to no water for some residents, particularly in high-lying areas.
The affected areas are Hillbrow, Yeoville, Berea, Kensington, and all surrounding suburbs. Johannesburg Water has organised roaming water trucks to supply water to affected areas.
Randburg/Roodepoort System
Some of the Randburg/Roodepoort reservoirs and towers are currently critically low due to multiple pipe bursts during the week. The Kensington B reservoir is low, while the tower is critically low. However, recovery is delayed due to the power outage experienced at Rand Water’s Eikenhof pump station on Thursday evening.
Sandton System
The Illovo tower is currently low due to slow recovery of the system after the supply was closed overnight. Furthermore, as part of internal interventions, Johannesburg Water throttled (reduced flow and pressure) all the Sandton system’s reservoir outlets overnight to retain and improve capacity. Although pumping, the water levels at the Illovo tower are recovering slowly. Poor pressure may be experienced in the Illovo tower supply zone.
Johannesburg Water will monitor all the systems throughout the day.
