Systems Update
Some Johannesburg Water systems continue being affected by internal repairs, incoming supply from the bulk supplier and power outage.
Commando system
The Hursthill 1 and 2 reservoirs are constrained. As part of mitigation strategies, technical teams will reconfigure the system in order to boost supply.
Waterval and Quellerina towers
Currently experiencing erratic supply due to poor supply pressure. Pumping has resumed and both towers are improving and supplying fairly.
Linden1 and Blairgowrie reservoir
Repairs are completed and back to normal.
Illovo tower
Empty due to City Power outage. Pumping will resume as soon as power is restored.
Alternative water supply will be provided to affected areas.

Waterval and Quellerina towers
Some Johannesburg Water systems are experiencing challenges due to incoming supply from the Bulk Supplier, and some are due to internal system issues on the side of Johannesburg Water.
Consequently, areas like parts of Robindale, Linden, parts of Blairgowrie, Northcliff Ext and Bergbron are experiencing low pressure to no water. Johannesburg Water technical teams are currently working on interventions to improve supply to these areas. These include checking for any valve closures and the repairing of burst pipes.
Commando System
Hursthill 1 and 2 reservoirs remain critical low. High-lying areas of the supply zone have poor pressure to no water. Teams are balancing and augmenting the system to boost supply to the Commando meter.
Affected areas by Commando System include but not limited to: Emmerenetia, Hursthill, Crosby, Auckland Park, Jan Hofmeyer, Vredepark, Vrededorp. Sophiatown, Coronationville and Westdene.
Alternative water supply in the form of roaming water tankers is being arranged for the affected areas.

Randpark Ridge reservoir update
Johannesburg Water’s technical teams have made positive headway in the Randpark Ridge reservoir situation.
The reconfiguration done today has assisted positively and as a result, the reservoir levels are increasing.
Some of the suburbs that did not have supply are starting to receive water, and the situation will improve as the network steadily recovers throughout the day.
However, certain parts of the supply zone, particularly high-lying areas, will take longer to start receiving water. In the interim, alternative water supply is still being provided to all affected residents.
Affected areas: /johannesburg-water-reservoirs-3/
Customers are requested to repair leaks on their properties as these also contribute to the high demand on Johannesburg Water systems. Residents are requested to observe level-1 water restrictions which are implemented from 1 September to 31 March. These restrictions prohibit the use of hosepipes to water gardens, wash cars, clean driveways, as well as fill up swimming pools and water features between 06:00 and 18:00. Instead, the use of greywater is encouraged.

Randpark Ridge reservoir update
Johannesburg Water’s technical teams, including senior management, are currently on site conducting investigations into the poor pressure and inconsistent water supply from the Randpark Ridge reservoir.
Following the reconfigurations that were done yesterday, to divert water into the Randpark Ridge reservoir, there has been little to no improvement. As such, the Entity is working around the clock to find the cause of the water supply challenge, which is not related to the incoming bulk supply.
Johannesburg Water is aware that certain suburbs, particularly high-lying areas, are not receiving water at all.
Arrangements have been made for alternative water supply to all affected residents, including critical customers such as old-age homes and clinics.
Further details will be provided as soon as they become available.

Commando System
The Hursthill 1 and 2 reservoirs are critically low. Poor pressure to no water is expected in high-lying areas of the supply zone. Johannesburg Water and Rand Water are working together in terms of reconfiguring the system and moving additional capacity of water to improve flows coming into the Commando meter.
These interventions will provide improvements to this system. Alternative water supply in the form of tankers, are being provided.
Affected areas: Hursthill, Crosby, Auckland Park, Jan Hofmeyer, Vredepark, Vrededorp. Sophiatown, Coronationville, Westdene and surrounding areas.
Zondi Reservoir
Certain parts of the supply zone including Dobsonville and surroundings areas are affected by poor pressure to no water due to high demand on the system. Johannesburg Water is monitoring and investigating options to minimize impact to customers.
