All Sandton systems have maintained stability and continue to supply normally, including direct feeds.
Midrand systems
Rabie Ridge reservoir and tower
Both the reservoir and tower improved overnight and continue to supply at 30% configuration.
Alexander Park reservoir
Improved overnight and is supplying normally.
Commando System
•Brixton reservoir: Remained steady overnight but remains low. However, the supply is normal.
•Brixton tower: Maintained stability and is supplying normally.
• Hursthill 1 reservoirs:
Hursthill 1 has been reconfigured to boost supply and has improved overnight, it is supplying normally.
•Hursthill 2 reservoir: Slightly improved overnight but remains low. Poor pressure is expected in the areas of the supply zone.
• Crosby reservoir: The reservoir continues to supply in bypass mode. Poor pressure to no water is expected in the supply zone.
Residents are requested to observe level-1 water restrictions which are implemented from 1 September to 31 March. These restrictions prohibit the use of hosepipes to water gardens, wash cars, clean driveways, as well as fill up swimming pools and water features between 06:00 and 18:00. Instead, the use of greywater is encouraged. This is to ensure that systems are kept stable throughout the coming months. We urge residents to report any form of vandalism and theft of water infrastructure to 0800 0025 87.

Johannesburg Water to roll out prepaid smart meter project to Orange Farm & parts of Soweto
Following the switching from open mode to prepaid smart meters in Cosmo City from 1 November, the rolling out is now extending to other areas. These include, Diepkloof, Orlando East and West, as well as Orange Farm.
The rollout will take place as follows:
Orlando East – 13 November 2023
Orlando West – 15 November 2023
Diepkloof – 27 November 2023
Orange Farm – 28 November 2023
Johannesburg Water is currently conducting consultation processes with ward councillors and the community to educate residents on various issues, including the benefits of the new prepaid smart meters, where and how to purchase water, the importance of paying for services, as well as the Expanded Social Package (ESP).
As such, Johannesburg Water is urging the residents of Orlando East and West, Diepkloof, and Orange Farm to ensure that they all have a Customer Interface Unit (CIU). CIUs are display units that are installed inside houses and linked to prepaid water meters and are crucial for loading units when purchasing water credits.
If customers have never received a CIU, or have lost a CIU, they can visit their nearest City of Johannesburg Customer Service Centre, where they will need to provide the following information: the property owner’s name and surname, physical address of the property, meter number and related contact details. The cost for replacing a lost CIU is R680. The refusal of switching to prepaid smart meters will lead to Level 3 water cuts, and residents will then have to pay to be reconnected.

Rabie Ridge reservoir and tower
The reservoir maintained stability overnight, but it remains low, while the tower levels have improved. Both reservoir and tower outlets are configured to 30% open to allow capacity.
Alexander Park reservoir
Improved overnight and supplying normally, however the reservoir remains low.
Commando System
• Brixton reservoir and tower: Over the past three days, the supply from both systems has been improving. Supply has also been normal during the day.
• Hursthill 1 and 2 reservoirs:
Have improved overnight but both remain low. Poor pressure is expected in high-lying areas.
• Crosby reservoir: The reservoir continues to supply in bypass mode. Poor pressure to no water is expected in the supply zone.

Rabie Ridge reservoir and tower
Although the reservoir maintained stability during the day, it remains low, while the tower level is now critically low. The reservoir will be throttled overnight to build capacity.
Linden 1 tower
The tower is stable and supplying normally.
Alexander Park reservoir
Continues to supply normally, however, Johannesburg Water has noted low levels and will throttle the system overnight to build capacity.
Commando System
• Brixton reservoir and tower: Both systems are stable and supplying normally.
• Hursthill 1 and 2 reservoirs: Both reservoirs are critically low. Poor pressure is expected in the supply zones. Outlets will be closed overnight to build capacity for Wednesday.
• Crosby reservoir: The reservoir continues to supply in bypass mode and is critically low. Poor pressure to no water is expected in the supply zone.
The following reservoirs will be throttled to 90% overnight to retain water and build capacity for Wednesday:
• Brixton
• Hursthill 2
• Rabie Ridge
• Diepsloot
• Chiawelo
• Alexander Park
Customers supplied by the abovementioned reservoirs may experience poor pressure to no flow. Alternative water supply has been arranged for the affected areas.

As compared to Monday, most reservoirs, towers, and direct feeds are in recovery mode and supplying normally. Johannesburg Water will continue to monitor the situation.
Midrand systems
Rabie Ridge reservoir and tower
The reservoir showed slight improvements overnight, while the tower continues to supply normally. Both outlets are 30% open to retain some water supply.
Linden 1 tower
The tower improved overnight and is supplying normally.
Alexander Park reservoir
Improved overnight and is supplying normally; however, levels are still low. Johannesburg Water will monitor the situation throughout the day.
Commando System
• Brixton reservoir and tower: Over the past two days, both systems have been on upward trajectory and supplying normally due to improved supply pressure. Johannesburg Water will continue to monitor the progress.
• Hursthill 1 and 2 reservoirs: Both reservoirs enjoyed some gains overnight and are supply normally. However, Johannesburg Water will continue to monitor the low levels.
• Crosby reservoir: The reservoir is critically low and poor pressure to no water is expected in the supply zone.
Alternative water supply has been arranged for the affected areas.
