Rand Water begins maintenance at Eikenhof and Zwartkopjes

Bulk supplier Rand Water has begun conducting extensive maintenance on their infrastructure. The maintenance started on Saturday, 22 June and will continue until 29 July 2024.

The bulk supplier will today commence maintenance work that will affect Johannesburg Water’s systems that are supplied by the Eikenhof and Zwartkopjes pump stations, including the Daleside Booster Station. During this time, Johannesburg Water customers will be impacted by low pressure to no water supply. It is estimated that full recovery of the systems may take approximately five days or longer after the supply has been fully restored.

Johannesburg Water has made arrangements for alternative water supply at strategic areas like hospitals, clinics, schools, municipal offices, police stations and shopping centres. Throughout the maintenance period, residents will receive regular updates on official Johannesburg Water social media platforms, website and ward councillors for affected areas.

(27 hours, pumping will be reduced to 50%.)

The system will be supplying normally for the first 24 hours. Thereafter, there will be a combination of

low pressure to no water.

Berea, Parktown, Hector Norris, Forrest Hill, Eagles Nest, Alan Manor, Naturena, Crown

Gardens, Aeroton and Orlando East.

Daleside 24 – 25 Jun 2024 @19:00

No pumping at Daleside for 4 hours, then 50% for 27 hours.

The system will be supplying normally for the first 24 hours. Thereafter, there will be a combination of low pressure to no

water.

Orange Farm, Lawley and Ennerdale.

During June and July 2024, bulk supplier Rand Water will be conducting extensive maintenance on their infrastructure from 22 June to 29 July 2024.

This will impact some of its customer’s systems, including Johannesburg Water and other municipalities and industries. This kind of preventative maintenance is imperative to make Rand Water’s systems more efficient and reliable for their customers, such as Johannesburg Water.

The maintenance work will affect Johannesburg Water’s systems that are supplied by the Palmiet and Eikenhof pump stations, as well as the Daleside Booster Station. During this time, Johannesburg Water customers will be impacted by low pressure to no water supply. It is estimated that full recovery of the systems may take approximately five days or longer after the supply has been fully restored.

Johannesburg Water will make arrangements for alternative water supply at strategic areas like hospitals, clinics, schools, municipal offices, police stations and shopping centres. However, residents are encouraged to store water in preparation for the maintenance.

Johannesburg Water customers will be impacted by a planned Rand Water maintenance to take place from Saturday, 22 June until Monday, 29 July 2024.
The purpose of this preventative maintenance is to ensure that Rand Water’s systems are more efficient and reliable for their customers, such as Johannesburg Water.

During the maintenance period, pumping at Rand Water’s Palmiet Pumpstation – which feeds several of Johannesburg Water’s systems – will be reduced as follows:
1 July 2024
Palmiet System
•Palmiet will be pumping at 60% for eight hours.
15 July 2024
Palmiet System
•Palmiet pumping will be reduced to 68% for 50 hours.
29 July 2024
Palmiet System
•Palmiet pumping will be reduced to 76% for 40 hours.

As a result, the following Johannesburg Water systems will be impacted during the maintenance period: all Sandton and Midrand systems, the South Hills Tower, as well as the Alexandra Park, Randjieslaagte, and Linksfield reservoirs.

Johannesburg Water will make arrangements for alternative water supply at strategic areas like hospitals, clinics, schools, municipal offices, police stations and shopping centres. However, residents are encouraged to store water in preparation for the maintenance.

Johannesburg Water customers will be impacted by a planned Rand Water maintenance to take place from Saturday, 22 June until Monday, 29 July 2024.

The purpose of this preventative maintenance is to ensure that Rand Water’s systems are more efficient and reliable for their customers, such as Johannesburg Water.

Pumping at Rand Water Zwartkopjes Pumpstation, which feeds Johannesburg Water’s Daleside Booster Station, will be reduced to 50% on 24 June 2024.

This in turn means there will be no pumping for four hours at Daleside Booster Station.

The Zwartkopjes Pumpstation feeds the following Johannesburg Water systems:
Hector Norris Pumpstation, as well as the following reservoirs and towers: Parktown, Berea, Yeoville, and Foresthill.

Johannesburg Water systems supplied by Daleside Booster Station:
The Orange Farm, Ennerdale, and Lawley reservoirs.

Johannesburg Water systems to be impacted by Rand Water maintenance in June, July 2024

During June and July 2024, bulk supplier Rand Water will be conducting extensive maintenance on their infrastructure from 22 June to 29 July 2024.

This will impact some of its customer’s systems, including Johannesburg Water and other municipalities and industries.

According to a statement by Rand Water, the objective of the bulk infrastructure maintenance is to improve plant availability, reliability, and efficiencies towards a flexible system. This kind of preventative maintenance is imperative to make Rand Water’s systems more efficient and reliable for their customers, such as Johannesburg Water.

“It is ideal to execute this maintenance work during low temperature period of June and July 2024 in preparation for higher demand periods during higher temperatures starting from August 2024,” reads the statement.

The maintenance work will affect Johannesburg Water’s systems that are supplied by the Palmiet and Eikenhof pump stations, as well as the Daleside Booster Station. During this time, Johannesburg Water customers will be impacted by low pressure to no water supply. Eikenhof System

  • Eikenhof will be pumping at 83% for 15 days.

  • Palmiet will be pumping at 60% for eight hours.
