Rand Water Eikenhof Pump station
Johannesburg Water wishes to inform residents that due to a power failure at Rand Waterâs Vereeniging purification works, water supply to the Rand Water Eikenhof pump station and reservoir has been affected.
This unanticipated incident will affect the Hursthill, Brixton and Crosby reservoirs considerably as they are fed from the Eikenhof system.
The recovery of the JW reservoirs will take place during the night when demand for water is low and we expect full restoration in approximately 72 hours. We are monitoring the supply to critical customers such hospitals in the affected areas and our technical team is ready to assist should a need arise.
Customers in higher lying areas will experience no water or poor pressure during the recovery period. We urge customers to use water sparingly at this time. Arrangements are being made to cater for customers in Sophiatown and Coronationville.
More information will be available for residents on our social media pages.

16 August 2021
Johannesburg Water is aware of the continuous water interruptions that have been affecting customers along Artillery Road in Auckland Park due to a leaking pipe.
The dilapidated condition of the 150mm diameter pipe, posed a number of challenges in the repair process which meant that the technical team had to unfortunately excavate in different sections of the pipe as and when a leak occurred. This resulted in a number of open trenches along the road.
Johannesburg Water is prioritizing completion of the newly laid section of pipe on the same road and once it is completed it will be tied âin with the existing infrastructure. This intervention will ensure the reduced number of water interruptions and excavations on Artillery Road. The Tie-in will be done by the 27th of August 2021 followed by the reinstatements of existing services to be completed by 10th September 2021.
We apologize to residence for the inconvenient caused and appeal for their patience during this time.

Infrastructure â Update
Johannesburg Water wishes to inform residents that our Midrand Reservoirs have made some improvements with some of the areas reporting restoration in supply.
The South Hills Tower remains under strain, as we are only able to pump into the tower once repairs have been completed. The Diepsloot and Riverside areas are also affected since yesterday as the Rand Water Brakfontein Reservoir ran empty as it is also linked to the Palmiet system.
In our quest to ensure that residents get water, we have added more tankers to the 14 trucks that are roaming as well as 10 stationery tanks. Priority will be focused on densely populated areas.
