 Rand Waterâs Meredale pipe burst
 Johannesburg Water (JW) would like to regrettable inform customers about a Rand Water pipe that burst. The burst pipe supplies their Meredale reservoir. This will subsequently affect all JW reservoirs supplied from the Meredale reservoir including Kibler Park, Hursthill, Brixton and Crosby systems. The JW Meredale reservoir including Honeydew, Eagles nest and Nature reservoirs are currently critically low.
The following areas have been affected:
Crosby Reservoir
- Riverlea and Extensions, Wibsy Dip, Longdale and Extensions, Croesus, Industria and Extensions, Industria West, Bosmont and Langlaagte.
Brixton Reservoir and Tower
- Langlaagte North, Mayfair West, Mayfair and Extensions, Pageview and Extensions, Vrededorp, Vredepark, Jan Hofmeyr, Auckland Park and Extensions, Hursthill, Cottesloe, Sunnyside, Braamfontein Werf and Uitsaaisentrum.
Hursthill Reservoir 1 and 2
- Parktown and Extensions, Melville and Extensions, Parkview, Westcliff, Emmarentia, Greenside and Extensions, Rooseveldt Park, Montgomery Park, Albertville, Albertskroon, Greymont and Extensions, Newlands, Triomf, Westdene, Martindale, Montclare, Westbury and Extensions, Coronationville, Claremont, Paarlshoop and Extensions, Homestead Park, Mayfair, Crown and Extensions, Amalgam, Crown North, Selby and Extensions, Crown City and Extensions, City West, Fordsburg and Burgersdorp.
Honeydew Reservoir 1
- Honeydew and Extensions, Little falls, Fairlands, Parts of Northcliff, Strubens Valley, Parts of Zandspruit, Parts of Sundowner, Laserpark and Olivenhout
Rand Water mentioned that repairs have commenced and are estimated to be completed by midnight.
Johannesburg Water is monitoring the infrastructure impacted and will provide updates on supply to customers. We plead with customers to reduce consumption for critical needs during this period and apologise for the inconvenience.

2021/2022 Johannesburg Water Customer Satisfaction SurveyÂ
Johannesburg Water (JW) rolled out the annual customer satisfaction survey effective from 1st June 2022. An independent research service provider, Molemotheo, has been appointed to conduct this exercise on our behalf.
Through this survey, JW will have an appropriate measure of customer satisfaction (or dissatisfaction) with its water and sanitation services offering to the residents of the City of Johannesburg (CoJ). The survey will also enable us to identify ways in which we can improve our customer experience and pinpoint areas that need improvement, as well as ways in which we can effectively meet the customersâ needs.

City Power Eikenhof Pump Station not on fire
Johannesburg Water (JW) would like to inform residents to be cautious of the false information making rounds that City Power substation caught fire in Eikenhof resulting in a power outage. Residents are requested to ignore this information as it is false.
The statement circulating states that residents in the following areas: Greater Roodepoort/Randburg area, Langlaagte/ Southdale and the Soweto Areas should take heed of the outage. It further states that the outage will affect the Eikenhoff Pump station and cause a water supply disruption that will affect the listed areas.
Johannesburg Water would like to clearly state that this statement was not issued by us and the Entity distances itself from such misinformation. Customers are urged to verify information with JW before circulating it to avoid unnecessary panic.
Furthermore, JW would like to remind the residents of a planned Rand Water Shutdown that will take place on the 3rd of June 2022. The shutdown is due to the installation of a new non-return valve on pumpset 20 at the Vereeniging Water Treatment Plant and, to tie-in the newly installed F46 pipeline to the existing F34 pipeline. The water supply to the Eikenhof Booster Station will be reduced by 50% and this will affect several areas in JWâs area of supply.

Planned Rand Water Shutdown: 3-4 June 2022
Johannesburg Water would like to inform residents of a planned Rand Water shutdown to cross connect the newly constructed H39 pipeline to the existing H12 pipeline at Randjesfontein. The shutdown is planned for the 3rd to the 4th June 2022.
The duration of the shutdown will be 39.5 hours starting from 7:00 AM on the 3rd until 22:00 PM on the 4th. The system is expected to recover within 2 to 3 days after the H12 pipeline is re-commissioned.
This will affect the Johannesburg Waterâs Randjesfontein reservoir, which supplies Randjesfontein and Randjespark Estate extension 1.
Customers are urged to use water sparingly and only for essential purposes during this period. Johannesburg Water apologises for the inconvenience caused.

Rand Water Emergency Shutdown – Emfuleni 88kVA transformer
Johannesburg Water (JW) would like to inform the residents of an emergency shutdown on the Emfuleni 88kVa transformer providing water to the Rand Water Vereeniging works. The shutdown is scheduled from 19:00 to 00:00 tonight, 16 May 2022. According to Rand Water, this will affect the Eikenhof pump station, which will only pump at 50% capacity.
The impact will be on JWâs Roodepoort direct fed system as well as Brixton/Crosby and Hursthill system. The shutdown will also affect the Rand Water Zwartkopies pump station, which will have an impact on the Forest Hill tower and Yeoville reservoir.
Johannesburg Water will monitor the affected systems and regular updates will be communicated to customers.
We urge customers to reduce consumption for critical needs during this period and apologises for the inconvenience caused.
